Well, i just bought a german martingale/market harborough at my local tack shop for 35 bucks, and i tried it on tanto today and it worked very well in getting his head vertical...

I just wanted to ask if anyone else has used this and do they find it help them and their horse?

A German Martingale is a great training tool. It helps your horse figure out where to keep his head and really round up through his back and work from behind, through his butt, using himself correctly. The one thing I will say is don't use it every single time you ride/work your horse. You will become dependant on it and it will be harder to get your horse to work correctly, without it on. But for starting out with young, green horses, I think its a great thing to use. I would say don't use it more then once or twice a week.

I use one on the little horse I ride and I LOVE it. Agreed 100% with Sam, try to only use it once or twice a week. I only use it when I'm in my lesson because then we are focusing on ME and my faults rather than the horses. When I'm working with him outside of the lesson, it's more about him and so we go without it
