How To Bathe Without A Hose
by Karri Webb

Materials:
55 gallon drum with a lid
2 gallon bucket
Bathing supplies

This tip is for those of us not fortunate enough to have a wash stall with
heated water in our barn. Place a 55 gallon drum where it will be in full sun.
Fill it with water and put the lid on it. 24 hours later you will have sun-
warmed water that is the perfect temperature for bathing. Use your 2 gallon
bucket to dip the water out of the 55 gallon drum and have at it. I have found
(depending on how dirty the horse i) it takes about 1/2 the drum to wash one
horse.

This is really a tip geared more for summer time. But you can take the time now to find a 55 gallon drum with a lid.

Author: I have a 3 year old mare that was on her way to the slaughter house. After much time and effort she is fully recovered and I wanted to start halter showing
her. But I didn't have a way to bathe her without freezing her from the hose! I
came up with this plan and we started taking blue ribbons!
